Check As a Man Thinketh, a great essay from 1902 which more than inspired The Secret as well as large parts of the visualization and self-help litterature in general.

I finally got into checking out the programming language Python, and I can totally relate to the hype. What a wonderful tool and meta-tool. Simultaneously really beginner friendly and really powerful. I can only urge everybody to take the plunge.
And by the way, programming is not at all what you imagine it to be: Long-haired manipulation of formulas. It is a very creative process, fully comparable to painting, writing etc. You definitely won’t regret learning it just from the stimulation it gives you alone. But it being a broadly marketable skill doesn’t hurt.
