Garden State
As far as comedy/drama/romance goes, you can do nothing but worse than Garden State. I lost most hope for the genre a while ago, but Zach Braff's directing debut hits home. 10 out of 10 in my book. You can watch the teaser below. I recommend that you do, it's a rare piece of teaser/trailer art. If you're into those things.

Grass
Grass is a great documentary on the history of marijuana in USA. It's narrated by Woody Harrelson, and it's funny and informative. You'll like those old American educational film clips. You can watch it at Google Video.

Voipbuster
Voipbuster is a competitor to Skype and the like. If you put 10 € into your account, you can call landlines in 32 countries and mobile phones in USA, Hong Kong and Puerto Rico for free for 120 days, with a limitation of 5 hours a week. A theorethical 85 hours in 120 days. That's a nice deal. Of course you can also make other calls, for a fee that usually is cheaper than Skype, with the 10 € you paid. Also after the 120 day period. Be aware, though, that calls are rounded up to next minute.

Douglas Rushkoff
Douglas Rushkoff is one of a few heroes of mine. He did quite a masterpiece of a speak at the Reboot 4 conference here in Denmark, presenting his thoughts on media social psychology and history of ideas. It's a pleasure to watch. Lots of powerful input.

Cheap Business Cards
Making business cards from digital photographs made with Photoshop, and printed by online photo printing sites is a nice method of creating high-quality, full-colour, cheap business cards - and other promotional paperware. I totally do it. Danish readers can go to Digital Foto Online and find the cheapest price for a given amount and format. I made this design, two on top of each other, and cut the photo in half:

Mailinator
Mailinator is really useful. Oftentimes a site ask for your e-mail, and you really don't want to give it. Then you put in
whatever@mailinator.com
and open Mailinator in a new tab/window. Input 'whatever' and access the open mailaccount which is created as mail arrives, and deleted at a couple of hours intervals. No password. Open your acknowledgement mail. Presto.

VideoDownloader
The VideoDownloader Firefox extension is an extremely useful tool. You get an icon in the bottom right, which will allow you to download every video on the page you are viewing. It works with most major video communities: Youtube, Google Video, iFilm, Metacafe, Daily Motion, Myspace etc. The file format is .flv, which I don't know, but it plays in Media Player Classic, which is all the video player you need, anyway.

Sideways

...and Learn to Love the Internet
Douglas Adams, brilliant author of the hilarious novel The Hitchhikers Guide to the Universe, wrote the article How to Stop Worrying and Learn to Love the Internet in 1999. Besides being funny and insightful, it provides good answers to the very irritating statement "you can't trust everything you find on the net".

Brick
I give nine out of ten to the movie Brick (8.0 at IMDB), because it's kick-ass style-wise. It's a noir detective story, and the setting is high school USA. I think you will be pleasantly surprised if you like it (sic). It won the Sundance Film Festival Special Jury Prize for Originality of Vision. Here's a bit about the plot, and below is the trailer. If you're into those things.

Weeds
I highly recommend the show Weeds. It follows a suburbian single mother selling weed, and the mood of the show is just excellent.

15:15
Gratisaviserne danner papirdynger i bybilledet. 15:15 derimod fylder ikke mere end brugeren tillader. I A4-format er 15:15 en særdeles brugervenlig trafikavis.
15:15 udkommer hver dag klokken 15:15. Avisen indeholder centrale historier fra Informations-universet, et dagligt markant synspunkt, en hurtig og kvalificeret nyhedsopdatering og en smule underholdning. "

20 Smart Companies to Start Now
From the article 20 Smart Companies to Start Now - Business 2.0 Magazine, CNNMoney.com:
"Asking venture capitalists for great startup ideas is a little like asking Curt Schilling what pitch he's going to throw next. When we posed the question to dozens of VCs and investors around the country, more than a few indignantly shot back, "Are you out of your mind?"
But after some friendly prodding from our reporters, a surprising number of them couldn't help but start jawing about companies they would love to build - if only the right people could be found to perfect the technologies or the business plans and make them seem possible.
The result is this list of 20 tantalizing business ideas, ranging from a host of new websites and applications to next-generation power sources and a luxury housing development. This isn't small-time thinking, either: These investors -which include some of Silicon Valley's most successful VCs as well as serial entrepreneurs like Steve Case and Howard Schultz are backing their ideas with a collective $100 million in funding to the entrepreneurs who can get them off the ground."

Europe Just Says Maybe
The article Europe Just Says Maybe from Newsweek is an excellent overview of the state of illegal drugs policy in Europe. It shows an European trend moving from old fashion no tolerance to damage control.
Act Normal
Quote from the 1994 anti-normal rant Act Normal:
"Who is it that gets together in mobs and hunts down, tortures and
kills people who are different from them? Who is it that teaches modesty,
courtesy, and generosity but lives in depravity, rudeness, and greed? Who
is it that can gather together the time, energy and money to murder
millions and destroy cities, for the sake of a flag, deity or economic
system? Not weirdos, not kooks or cranks or nuts. It's the "Normal"
people who do those things."
