Eavesdrop
I really like the idea of the CD Eavesdrop: A Wealth Of Found Sound:
"Eavesdrop: A Wealth Of Found Sound is a collection of anonymous recordings found at thrift stores, yard sales, and in trash bins over the past four years. These unaltered tracks come from audio or micro-cassettes, 8-Tracks and home-recorded records. Many of the clips are segments from audio diaries, tape-letters, the sound of road trips, fights, crying, family moments, telephone conversations/messages, or the amusements of children or the mentally handicapped."

Overheard in New York
There's some pretty funny stuff at Overheard in New York. An example:
Blond Tourist Bimbo: I've never even heard of the G Train.
Blond Local Bimbo: Yeah, it's a ghetto train.
Blond Tourist Bimbo: Where does it go?
Blond Local Bimbo: Nowhere.
Black eight-year-old boy: Except my home, bitch.

Borat
Borat is all the rage right now. The movie Borat!: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan premiered in the US recently, so you can get it with your favorite filesharing app. I hated the Ali G character, but judging from the interview below, and the 8.5 rating on IMDb - at the time of writing #119 on their all-time top 250 - it's worth a shot.

...and Learn to Love the Internet
Douglas Adams, brilliant author of the hilarious novel The Hitchhikers Guide to the Universe, wrote the article How to Stop Worrying and Learn to Love the Internet in 1999. Besides being funny and insightful, it provides good answers to the very irritating statement "you can't trust everything you find on the net".

Act Normal
Quote from the 1994 anti-normal rant Act Normal:
"Who is it that gets together in mobs and hunts down, tortures and
kills people who are different from them? Who is it that teaches modesty,
courtesy, and generosity but lives in depravity, rudeness, and greed? Who
is it that can gather together the time, energy and money to murder
millions and destroy cities, for the sake of a flag, deity or economic
system? Not weirdos, not kooks or cranks or nuts. It's the "Normal"
people who do those things."

Tom Cruise on Psychiatry
Interesting. It turns out to be Tom Cruise who a go at trying to start the discussion on the theoretical grounds in the field of psychiatry. He's quite a bit off on communication skills in this interview clip, but it is worth the watching.
To anyone interested in what this is all about I highly recommend Eliott Valensteins book Blaming The Brain. Excellent critical walk-through of the history of psychiatry.
